Hi! I'm Tae!
Mackinaw City is my hometown, and after seeing parts of the world for a few years, I moved back home. I am hoping Strait to the Roots can help bring a focus on health, community, and healing to the area by focusing on the body as a whole. Including the mental, physical, and emotional sides of ourselves.
I wanted to become a massage therapist after getting in a car accident in 2014 – where I received chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy to heal the whip lash and trauma a person can experience from a car accident. I moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 2016, where I attended and graduated from the Center of Massage and Natural Health.
I have worked in spas, chiropractic offices, physical therapy offices, salons, all before owning my own practice. I offer a few different options to add to your sessions including Reiki and Fire Cupping. I am a volunteer base Doula. I am finishing up my last year of nursing school, and also am taking classes to become a Certified Life and Health Coach.
My ultimate goal is the learn as much as I can about the human body, mind, and spirit – to be able to help facilitate in another’s healing journey.
Taelar has received licensing and certificates in many different avenues of healing. From energy healing, to suction cup therapy, to becoming a health and life coach, to the physical healing of trigger point therapy and all the way to understanding the importance of yoga and centering your mind, Strait to the Roots has a little something for everyone.
Whether you want to relax or receive a deep tissue massage, there is something to suit everyone's needs. Using long, slow strokes throughout the body, massage therapy helps the body release and relax.
I decided to dive into health and life coaching to create a positive change in myself but also to be a tool in other people’s health and life journey towards wellness. My passion for health and wellness started when I moved to Oregon and practiced meditation daily, then that progressed into my physical practice of yoga. I didn’t even own a yoga mat, I used a towel, read books on the proper way to practice certain yoga poses, and had 1 yoga DVD. Ha! Fast forward 7 years and I am now a yoga teacher! I later became a massage therapist, then a reiki practitioner, and now here I am – offering health and life coaching.
Wellness is the state of your entire being; your physical, mental, and emotional body. It is how you feel when you put on the bathing suit, the connections you have with your friends and family, and also the connection you have to that which is higher – whatever and whomever that may be for you. As your health and life coach – we will focus on your behaviors, beliefs, and your identity, the things that make you, you. And we will create lasting habits so that what you dream of being and doing – is simply who you are and what you do.
By signing up for a health coach – you are committing to a 90 day program to create habits, and change your behaviors to help shift your life into the person you have always dreamed to be. Our habits are the determiners of the quality of our life, so by changing our habits we change our life.
Some of us want to lose weight, some of us want better sleep, or some of us want deeper relationships. By allowing me to help you as your coach, I will give you tools while holding you accountable with kindness and patience so you can become the person you have always dreamed of being.

- YOGA MEANS UNION -
Often times when people think of yoga, they think of difficult poses that are hard to achieve if you haven't been active in quite some time.
Yoga is so much more than the poses and body stretching - it's practicing kindness, acceptance and humility. It is the constant practice of treating ourselves and others with compassion and love.
During the physical practice of yoga, our breath is the our gauge while we flow through different postures, or asanas. Strait to the Roots offers different class types that will help stretch and strengthen our body and our mind.
We look forward to practicing with you.
This style of class flows from different poses by following the breath. There may be balancing poses, or inversions in this class - becoming as difficult or as easy as your body allows that day. Often times, faster and more strengthening than other classes.
This style class focuses on holding poses for longer periods of time and being still. Coming back to our breath over and over and over again. Often using props (but not always) to help our bodies melt into poses. This class will help you feel calm, peaceful and open afterwards.
Slow Flow -
This style of class keeps the flow that Vinyasa style offers, but at a slower pace. Instead of moving with the breath like you would in a Vinyasa class, you are holding poses for longer periods fo time but still maintaining a natural flow.
These classes offer a slower, deeper and more nurturing practice. It isn't as invigorating as a Vinyasa style class, but instead, Gentle style classes focus on the slowing down of your body movements and breath.
